At the May meeting, members may nominate from the floor, and AWG members will vote on the 2004-2005 Board.
John Busby announced that Carol Meeks won the April contest with her poem, Lobotomy.
Jan Carrington discussed the July contest. Guidelines will be published in the newsletter from April through July. We had 397 entries in 2003 and our goal is to break 400 in 2004. She encouraged all entrants to branch out and cross over into areas they do not usually enter. She asked for someone to assist her in managing the contest.
Nancy Masters reminded the membership about the April 24 workshop with June Ford, Pam Cumbie and Jeff McClanahan.
Nancy reminded the members that AWG will be 35 years old in May, and the Board of Directors will provide refreshments for the birthday party. Beginning in June, Karen Witemeyer will be the refreshment coordinator.
Pat Capps Mehaffey brought the program on inspirational writing. She provided examples of her meditations, and gave the top ten reasons people read meditations and devotions. She said when it comes to inspirational writing, some are called, some are coerced, and some are commanded. Her advice: If you are feeling pressured to write, just do it and get it over with.
The members adjourned to refreshments provided by Mac Davis, Augustine Tenant, Joan Rogers and Betty Scroggins.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Wynn Craig, Secretary
