John Busby explained the proposed change to the Bylaws. Anyone serving on the Executive Board must be a member of AWG for one year prior to Board service.
Jeffrey McClanahan, writing as Anna Jeffrey, brought the program. Ms. McClanahan is the author of Love of a Cowboy, which was a Barnes & Noble pick of the week, and her book was featured on the chapter a day bookclub. Ms. McClanahan explained how her book made it to publication, and offered basic how-to advice for those wishing to publish a novel. She explained the difference between literary fiction and commercial fiction, and suggested sending a 6-7 page synopsis to an editor or agent. The worst they can do is throw it away, and the may just read it. Her next book, Love of a Stranger, is scheduled for release in April.
The members adjourned to refreshments.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary W. Craig, Secretary
