ANNOUNCEMENTS:
A number of guests were introduced and welcomed. Members announced brags and sags, and, for the first time in recent memory, there were no sags announced! Among the brags were Doug Sellers who had an article published by Abilene Reporter-News, and Ann Bohannon who was interviewed by Loretta Fulton for her "Questions of Faith" special feature in the Reporter-News. Sandra Milholland announced she had given 2 book proposals to a publisher and the publisher accepted both of them. Also, she will begin a new question and answer column in Christian Woman magazine. Sue Turner will publish her book "Wings Born Out of Dust," as an e-book. She also will be on staff of the Emporium Gazette and will be known as the "Answer Lady." Elaine Coleman got a go-ahead on her proposed book for Texas haunted forts from the Republic of Texas Press. Debra Guerra received her 8th assignment from the Latina Magazine, keeping her busy interviewing Latino women in various professions. Jo Helen Cox finished redoing a short story and received a "bravo" from Denise Vitola. Ginny Greene was also given a "bravo" by a round of applause for being our talented, diligent and persevering AWG newsletter editor.NEW BUSINESS:
Nancy opened the floor for discussion regarding meeting at the Center for Contemporary Arts and Ruth Sellers spoke in favor of meeting there, emphasizing our need to be identified with the arts in our community, since we, too, are artists. It was voted by the membership to meet at the CCA in August, using the larger room, after a motion and second by Ruth Sellers and Sue Turner.PROGRAM:
Nancy introduced the speaker, Shelli Meador, local editor for iam3rd.com who told how she came into her profession, and invited members to submit proposals for daily devotionals.
