ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Members announced brags and sags, with the brags far outnumbering the sags!NEW BUSINESS:
Our July 22nd speaker will be Shelli Meador on devotional and inspirational writing and markets.PROGRAM:
Stewart introduced the speaker, Blu Cooksey, a teacher at CJC who is seeking help with a pilot project called "Anacolthon"-a visual presentation of poetry for educational television. This idea is being produced and directed by Springboard Communications, an educational marketing company, and will be an innovative approach to literary curriculum. Should this be well received, this presentation could grow into a regular program with great exposure for writers, actors, musicians, story-tellers, etc. Steward Caffey will be our contact for anyone interested in participating. Mr. Cooksey is primarily interested in writing western poetry and read three of his poems to the group. He said the poetry for "Anacolthon" would be formatted in 2 to 3 minute segments and the full program would include approximately 12 to 15 poems. The proposed plan would be to offer a "sampler" of different types of poetry from classics to contemporary. Filming should begin in July and tentatively air in the fall. "Anacolthon" will have an audience of from six to twelve million.| Minutes of Previous Meeting | Minutes of Next Meeting | Return to Home Page |
