President Stewart Caffey called the meeting to order and introduced guests. The minutes are now posted on the AWG website, so reading them is waived. A copy of the minutes was circulated to those attending the meeting to insure access to the information. No formal motion to accept the minutes was made.

In Treasurer Gail McMillan's absence, Stewart gave the financial report. The operating account balance is $2724.70. With three life memberships and a $1,000 Certificate of Deposit, the Guild's total for all accounts is $5,760.70. Nancy Robinson made a motion to accept this report as printed. Barbara Darnall seconded the motion and it passed.

Ted is best known for his cartoon character "Rick the Ref" and does commercial cartooning and also teaches the art of cartooning. He is presently involved in writing a book about "Tailgating" which is a book of recipes, cartoons and quips for meals before "the game." Ted gave his sketches to the Guild, and Nancy announced they would be given as prizes for next month's contest. The frame-worthy color drawing was our door prize and the winner was Eunice Eversdyke.

    OLD BUSINESS:

The Center for Illustrated Children's Literature had invited us to meet in their facility if it met our needs. However, the cost is prohibitive for the Guild. Meeting places for AWG are still under investigation and consideration.

    NEW BUSINESS:

Our annual Thanksgiving Dinner on November 16, 2000, will be at the First Baptist Church again this year upon recommendation of several members. None objected, so recommendation was accepted.

See Newsletter next month for our meeting place, October 26.

Barbara Rollins, Eunice Eversdyke and Marie Boswell served refreshments.

    Meeting adjourned.

    Respectfully submitted,
    Carolyn Dycus, 9-29-00
