In my new sweater, sitting cosy,
Drinking my tea,
I daydreamed and mulled
As my cat became nosy
About a fray I didn’t see
She pulled
She undid
Before I could forbid
She quickly traveled
The hooked yarn unraveled
The yarn, without cognition
Followed in submission
Neither with any contrition

When her boyfriend had to travel for work, he forbade Rosie to leave the house, expecting her usual submission. She mulled over approaching Anne, the neighbor her boyfriend called “nosy.” Had Anne unraveled the cause of her bruises? Rosie knocked on Anne’s door. Opening it, Anne cried, “Let me help!”

If at the first sign you hesitate
to approach…
And, instead, linger to deliberate
The degree to which
Those native-born weeds
Can assimilate and cross-pollinate,
With warp speed, they will propagate
And your inability to eradicate
Them from your carefully planted seeds
Might be grounds to capitulate
He was native to the silence, to the degree he never imagined. Jacob deliberately approached Kayla. She gave no sign of notice of his inability to communicate his true feelings. He’d try once more.
“Kayla, I’ve been a fool. I love you always will.”
She stood up and walked away
