Words: chert, quit, guarantee, cluck, astrological, cooperate

“When the Storm Hits” by Penny Vieau

A huge lightening bolt struck the tree outside last night and left some sort of chert at the base. Was it astrological? I can guarantee my chickens let out a big cluck from the storm. They won’t cooperate. That’s it. I quit, throwing my hands up in the air.

Do They Know? By Linda Gordon

Who created the hosts of heavenly skies

Then deplored astrological devotions men devined

Who placed chert crystals under the sea

Not mentioned in His inner peace guarantee

    To cooperate is creation’s design

But not to quit or usurp the divine

Yet, there’s still cluck about trust

    In concentrated cosmic dust

A Heavenly Tiff by Mark Young

I don’t believe in astrological signs

Because if they could really guarantee

    Life’s path through celestial design

We’d quit believing will was free

    Your disapproving tongue cluck

Your glare as hard as chert

    Cooperate to disdain my pluck

    To declare your belief inert.
